Andrea is the proud new owner of the SOG Giveaways!
I know it's hard to understand: just givin' away stuff. I've got 20 years of stuff lying around and I just find it easier to give it away. No strings, I pinkie swear.
In other news...
I really appreciate all the nice things y'all had to say about Cherry. I promise it is a trick of the camera, but the sweater did not look good on me.

See the guy on the right? Now compare it the original, un-edited "me in the sweater pic":

I will concede that the hairdo may have more to do with the similarities than the sweater. (And I need a gardener.)Yes, I know. Too hard on myself yada yada yada. (I'm pretty sure "don't whine so much" is becoming a Don't on the Rules of Good Blogging list. I'll have to keep this in mind for future posts.)
I do appreciate how much positive reinforcement you've given me over the years. Please insert sappy, mushy thoughts here. (Any fans of
Flipping Out around? I could invite you to a mandatory We Appreciate You Cocktail Party...)

'Tis Better to Give
I forgot how fun swaps were! I'm madly putting together a package for the Pamper Me swap at
Crochetville. After a few starts, I think I finally know what I'll make for my partner. I want to post a picture, and I took a close-up thinking it wouldn't reveal too much, but now I think it does. Guess I'll have to wait.
Now get ready because it's time for:

I have two offerings today.
1st: A set of Little Boxes

Please note that one pattern is missing from the Little Box of Knitted Throws. Be the first to
e-mail me and claim them. Offer expires June 25.
Next up: A book of crochet patterns.

You know the drill:
click fast! Offer expires June 25!
Now, I am going to go enjoy an empty house.

Commentpalooza!
June 3, 2008
Wow! I got an almost record-breaking* number of comments yesterday! Thanks to everyone who commented...and everyone who reads me! I promise I won't make a habit of whining about subscribers. If anything, I learned that there are many feed readers out there (ie: Bloglines, Google Reader etc) and subscriber numbers are hard to verify.
So with all my whining I totally forgot the biggest news: SCHOOL'S OUT!!!! I'm so excited! I told the loved ones to leave me the hell alone and I've got plenty of crafty planned. And...wait for it....
Summer of Givin' is BACK!!!! Spread the word
(make me a button somebody, please!) And this year all you have to do is ask! No contests! Be the first to e-mail and you "win"
First up:

Four skeins hot-pink Sinfonia yarn.
100% cotton
100 g (220 m)/3/52 oz (218 yds)

Sticky: Summer Of Givin'- Contest #3
June 24, 2007
When you clean out all your crap (might as well, I've already got the PG rating) you finally accept that there are some things that you just arent going to get around to.
Knitting lace is one of those things I'll never get around to. So I no longer have a use for:

Three hanks of Knit Picks Shimmer (70% Alpaca 30% Silk) in the Morning Mist colorway and the book A Gathering of Lace by Meg Swanson.
To enter all you have to do is
e-mail me and tell me the country of origin for the following:
Cluny Lace
Clones Knot
Bruges Lace
and...
Mantilla (more and item than a technique)
I will enter you in the drawing to be held on July 1st.

A Behemoth of an FO
June 5, 2007
Behold the biggest doily I've ever done:

Size: Approx 22 inches (57 cm)
Thread: Aunt Lydia's size 10; color-cream (which actually reminds me of Banana Cream Pie it's so yellow)1 1/4 balls (I've already tossed the label, so I don't have the yardage)
Hook: Boye; steel size 4 (1.25 mm)
Pattern: Doily #19 from the book Pineapple Lace published by Japan Publications/Nihon Vogue (In my opinion, some of the best thread patterns in the world are from Japan)
Commentary: I have never been so happy to be done with a project! It was not difficult (I love symbol crochet!), but I just seemed to keep making mistakes so this turned into a two steps forward one step back kind of project. I'm also asking myself why I don't do thread more often. After I taught myself how to crochet (20+ years ago), my projects of choice were almost exclusively thread. And now that it is summer, the lighter material is a godsend.
Check back soon 'cause this one is going to be a prize in the Summer of Givin'!

I Refuse to Believe That You Can Post Too Many Times in One Day
May 27, 2007
But I will spare you and consolidate...
50 Book Challenge (or What Would Have Been the 4th Post)
The Shrone posted something about this at
Crochetville. Of course, she started it in January. True to form, I am coming in to this late. You know the saying about beats and drummers. Some of us don't even
hear the drummers.
1. A Vision of Light by Judith Merkle Riley
2. In A Dry Season by Peter Robinson
Only 48 to go!! I could have totally been done if Lori had challenged us to
buy 50 books this year...
Progress Pic and Batrick le Fatrick (or What Would Have Been the 5th Post)Among the many WIP's that I
really have (I just tell myself I have 2 at a time), is the Baby Albert Coat from Book 1 of Sally Melville's series The Knitting Experience: The Knit Stitch. It's a mini-version of the Einstein Coat (which is on my list of WIM's). Only one more sleeve to go!

I'm also including a pic of Bat. He is the hardest of my cat children to photograph. Part of the difficulty is my inability to take good pictures period. Another difficulty is his coloring and the general lack of lighting in my house. I was quite pleased with this shot, though.

There was actually a better pic, but I have no idea how to remove "green eye". Red eye I can manage.
Summer of Givin' (or What Would Have Been The 6th Post)After going through all the mags today, I discovered that I now have a nice stack of mags I don't need. It is a sin to throw away patterns, so I am now going share; however, I want to make it a little entertaining...and maybe grab a little traffic while I'm at it. Basically, instead of saying "here's what I've got, who wants it?" I'll be coming up with ways to award them as "prizes." Since I plan to organize patterns and stash this summer, there will be lots o' easy-as-pie mini contests.
My first mini contest begins....NOW!
The Prize:This Pattern
The "Challenge"Here are the lyrics:
I can see why you think you belong to me
I never tried to make you think or make you see one thing for yourself
But now your off with someone else and I'm alone
You see I thought that I might keep you for my own
Can you name the song and artist?
Send me an
e-mail with the correct answer and be entered in the drawing that will take place June 10th*
*some of you may be thinking "isn't Netter still waiting for her prize from last year's contest?" Yes, it's true, she is. But I've turned over a new leaf!Labels: 50 Book Challenge, Summer of Givin', WIPs
